Looking for a sweet treat for your special someone this Valentine’s Day? Look no further than Ginger Betty’s Bakery! This small bakery in Quincy, MA has a big following and an even bigger selection of cookies.
Beth Veneto fell in love with gingerbread and the magic of Christmas at a young age, continuing her passion into adulthood. After years of making gingerbread houses in her college dorm, Beth later opened her very own bakery in 1995 in North Quincy, MA. Her warm gingersnap cookies became an instant success, and her motto of “sharing cookies, making friends” became a reality.
Today, Ginger Betty’s is in a larger location in Quincy due to their growing popularity. The shop has a gingerbread cookie for every occasion, including Valentine’s Day! The bakery has a lovely selection of Valentine’s Day treats to choose from, including ginger bread houses, heart shaped cookies, and Valentine goody bags.
As a proud American, Beth supports our troops whenever she can. That love of her country lead her to another dream – to help others and give back. Ginger Betty and her team created “The G.I. Ginger Betty Foundation”. This unique Foundation ships cookies to America’s brave men and women in uniform as a “Sweet Salute” and “Heartfelt Thank You” for all their sweet service and sacrifices. Because of these amazing American heroes we are able to enjoy our many freedoms and the American dream!
Since 2007, the foundation has shipped countless cookies and treats to soldiers overseas.
In 2009, the foundation received the Seven Seals Award from the U.S. Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The organization works to create and promote supportive work environments for members of the military, and the Seven Seals Award recognizes individuals and organizations whose work supports this mission.
Veneto said service members returning from deployment often visit the bakery to thank staff for sending them cookies.
“We get letters, we get phone calls and thank-yous. When they come home from overseas, we get soldiers coming in,” Veneto said. “You think it’s a simple thing like a cookie, but it means so much. … They’re so appreciative.”
So tap in to your innerchild and enjoy the magic of gingerbread this Valentine’s Day!
