The inaugural Made in America Convention, which was held at the Indianapolis, Indiana Convention Center on October 3-6, was quite an extravaganza. According to the show organizers, “the convention was American Made celebration and the start of a Made in the USA movement.” Hundreds of manufacturers from across the country came to showcase high-quality, U.S. made machines and products.
The convention also featured high-level speeches and panel discussions on a variety of manufacturing, economic, trade, intellectual property, reshoring, woman in manufacturing, and other related topics. These included: Stephen Moore, noted economist, Wall Street Journal writer, author, speaking about, “Unleashing American Prosperity”; Harry Moser, author, “What’s Happening with Reshoring”; James Stuber, attorney, public policy advocate, author, “Problems of Offshoring Jobs and How Consumers Can Solve Them”; Rosemary Gibson, Author, “China RX”: the crisis due to pharmaceuticals no longer being made in the USA; Michael Stumo, President & CEO, Coalition for a Prosperous America, “Growing Manufacturing Through Tariffs and Fixing the Dollar”; Mike Lindell, founder and CEO, My Pillow and My Store; and Ken Rakusin, President & CEO of Gordon Brush Mfg. Co., Inc., who spoke on, “What it takes to maintain manufacturing in the USA and the fortitude it takes to resist going offshore to manufacture”.
Saturday evening was the awards dinner and presentations. There were fourteen awards given out. Ken Rakusin was the recipient of the PATRIOT AWARD. “This award was presented to Ken for his Proud To Be An American™ attitude and his unwavering commitment to manufacturing in the United States, in-spite of the infiltration of low cost, inferior Chinese goods”, said Don Buckner.
In addition, Gordon Brush® was presented with the ARMED FORCES AWARD and was commended for their patriotism and extraordinary efforts in developing the “Chamber” brush, for the Abrams tank, that saved the United States Army, $1.5 Billion.
“I am overwhelmed, honored, and deeply humbled to receive these two prestigious awards. My goal was to make a difference for our employees, our customers, and our country. I guess we achieved that”, said Rakusin.
